Information for the 2018 edition of the Melbourne Cup, Australia’s premiere thoroughbred horse race, is now available. The entire Melbourne Cup Carnival occurs over four days from November 3, 2018 to November 10, 2018, with the race itself, covering a distance of 3,200 meters, to be held on November 6, 2018 at 3:00 PM AEST at the highly prestigious Flemington Racecourse. The entire race day event consists of ten races, with forty minute breaks in between each.
The individual days of the Melbourne Cup Carnival consist of the AAMI Victoria Derby Day on November 3, 2018, Lexus Melbourne Cup Day on November 6, 2018, Kennedy Oaks Day on November 8, 2018, and Seppelt Wines Stakes Day on November 10, 2018.
Melbourne Cup 2018 Prize Money
Total prize money for the Melbourne Cup, set at $6,200,000.00 from 2012-2017, will increase this year to $7,300,000.00. This includes $4,000,000.00 to the first place winner, and trophies ranging in value from $7,500.00 to $200,000.00 going to key members of the winning team, including the rider, trainer, and owner. Admission to the Precinct, located at the track’s 400 meter mark, is available from $220.00-$350.00. This is one of the ideal spots for viewing, and comes with a number of amenities including souvenirs and a food voucher to one of the vendors available in the Precinct.
Additionally, VRC Members Guest Passes may be purchased for $350.00, and a number of reserved seating at various other prime vantage spots is available from $234.00-$510.00.
All tickets must be pre-purchased to gain admission. Closer to the date of the race, tickets may also be obtained from the Melbourne Cup Carnival ticket booth at Federation Square. Tickets will also be available at the Flinders Street, Southern Cross and North Melbourne train stations.

Melbourne Cup 2018 Hospitality
