There have been challenges for the participants in regards to the Melbourne Cup preparation. We’d like to share some of them together in this page. First things first, it is about the weights.
The officials have finally released the weights information of the 2018 Melbourne Cup. For the 158th Melbourne Cup, the weights information came into the internet with Darren Weir-trained Humidor has the 58kg topweight.
For this November 6 event, there will be the total of 183 horses nominated for the world’s richest handicap. The two Australian-trained horses who come to the top eight weighted entries for the race are Humidor and Comin’ Through.
The weight of 57.5 kg is coming from Best Solution by Godolphin and Lancaster Bomber by Aidan O’Brien. Torcedor by Andreas Wohler was 57kg. FYI, Torcedor was the 2014 Melbourne Cup winner. Then there is Cliffs of Moher that stops at 56.5 kg. Meanwhile, Idaho and Magic Circle has weighed themselves 56kg.
In the 55.5kg category, Ace High (Victoria Derby winner) and Who Shot Thebarman (Sydney Cup Winner) have it. Unforgotten (Australian Oaks winner has 52.5kg weight. It is an interesting fact that she is 1kg heavier than her stablemate YoungStar.
King Will Dream and Withhold weight 53kg. FYI, both of the horses were early favored runners in the Melbourne Cup markets. These weights are of course dynamic. The data can be changing significantly before the event takes place. Although we have two months from the moment of truth, it has never been too early to discuss the weight of the horses. The weight variable is significant for those who want to see the details of their horse. People would put their resources for their favorite horse. There will be no excuse to miss the accuracy of the horses’ weights.
The other challenge for the participants is the struggles of the International Melbourne Cup. As we know, Torcedor remains on target for the Melbourne Cup although the last appearance was a disappointment. Torcedor was sold for a large sum by the previous owner.
Then we have the Melbourne Cup emergencies. As we know, the crises might always be the issues in the field. In the big event like Melbourne Cup, this kind of challenge will mostly show up. There have been fierce debates and discussions amongst the officials. For instance, the emergencies introduction that let the officials has been put on hold.
Amanda Elliot, the chairman of Victoria Racing Club, stated her preference in the emergencies for the next renewal. The Fairfax Media itself reported that Victoria Racing Club would support the current reviews of crises for the future.
There will be multi-million dollars allocated to improve the betting technology and the facilities. The introduction of the Melbourne Cup emergencies will then hopefully improve the emergency awareness amongst the sports lovers.
The emergencies are also upholding the best interests of the horses. For instance, some horse owners will want to check on their house. Some folks would leave their horse stranded outside for a longer time. It might happen if the event starts on Saturday Evening. The trainers would probably go the horse until Tuesday when they make their way back.
Then There is another problem that might be contagious. Animal welfare has always been an issue. The repressive movements from the animal lovers can be a challenging obstacle in holding a successful event like the Melbourne Cup. Many people have been questioning about the morality of the Melbourne Cup and the life benefits of the event.
But some people are not opening their minds. Of course, the Melbourne Cup has been evolving from year to year. Such thing like animal abuse is no longer the issue here. Even better, the officials of Melbourne Cup have placed the horse racing in the right track. But as we already know in any similar niche, “We can’t please everyone.”
There are a hundred horses have died when racing for the Melbourne Cup. There is at least one case every two or three days in the world. We fetch this data from the Coalition for the Protection of Racehorses. Although many people seem to be hard to make good justice-principles. The self-proclaimed participants suggested that human can drink because the animals die or risk death. As the trainers and the officials are aware of, all animals can be deadly if there are some mistakes by their trainer. For instance, the trainer forces the horse to race at such a young age. The participants of the big event are working harder to meet the excellent standard and set an excellent example for the next generation. They are confident to manage these obstacles. So, you won’t need to worry at all. Melbourne Cup 2018 will successfully take place.
